1. Asta's son runs into the woods because he didn't want to pay the death taxes.
2. After many weeks hiding in the woods, Crispin goes back to the village and goes to the priest. The priest tells him his real name is Crispin and that his mother could read and write. He told Crispin to come back tomorrow to learn more about his mother and father and why she didn't tell him his name was Crispin.
3. When Crispin comes back a village boy yells his name and tells him the priest sent him and that he wants Crispin to go to this lady's house and she will give him bread and water to get on his journey. After that the boy leads him into John Aycliffe on purpose Crispin runs into the woods only to find the priests dead body lying there with a slit in his throat.
4. Crispin journey's through the woods for many days and one day he walks into this abandoned village and there's music. The music is coming from a man.
5. The man whose name was Bear see's Crispin and he asked him what he was doing and he said " since i found you, i am now your master."
6.Crispin and Bear journey through the woods and Cripsin tell him why he is in the woods. Crispin and Bear journey for a long time and when they are journeing Bear teachs Cripin to jugle and play the flute.
7. They finally make it to Great Wexly and they are playing music to get money. When they enter the village there are guards and Crspin and Bear decide to play music and start dancing so the guards are dancing too, so they dont look at Cripins face.
8. They get past the guards, and Bear takes Crispin to Widow Daventry's house, who is a great help to Cripsin and Bear.
9.Bear leaves the widows house and attends a "secret" meeting. He tells Crispin that for his own life to stay at Widow Daventry's house, but of course he follows and spies soldiers as he is sneaking up to the small building Bear is in. He warns all the people in the building and him and Bear help them escape.
10. Bear was unable to escape because he was the last, and the biggest to leave. The soldiers caught him and he did not oppose. Crispin goes on a great journey searching for Bear, determined to find him and get him to safety, to repay Bear for everything he's done for him.
